Life Continues (badly) at my house....

It is along story and not one I want to go into, but my 18 yr old son continues to be lazy and refuses to go to school because he is "sick". He is sick all right - just pineing (how do I spell that right?) for a stupid girl. So I refused to call him in sick today. He threatened that I would have to go to school and talk to the Deans Monday - I told him fine. So I called school and talked to the Dean of Attendence and told her what was going on, she said no problem. She would talk to him on Monday, but that we didn't need to go in. He is going to have to serve a 3 hr detention on Tues (he doesn't know that yet) and I said good - let him pay the concequences. Ughh. Ok, that was more than I was going to bore you with - but I"ve just had it.

Anyway, I was so mad and upset I left work and came home to cook a nice dinner since my husband complains I don't ever cook nice meals anymore. Don't know how when I'm working 9.5 hr days and driving another 2-3 hrs. Another long story.

So here I am - working from home while I cook dinner. I did finish my first "block" from my house quilt from Australia though! Doesn't it look great! I really like how it turned out! At least I had fun with one thing.

Don't ya just wish sometimes that you could just Kick some sense into them? Darn child welfare people. I agree with you.... his facing the consequences will hopfully make him see it wasn't worth the fight. Glad you got some time for you!

LOVE the block by the way. I want to make something similar in the not too distant future. Sort of a rustic look over our 24 year marriage...this gets my creative juices flowing!

DS needs to dig a hole. That's what I do when mine get moody. They usually come in all refreshed and ready to join the human race... of course the yard looks like a few bombs have exploded in it. Need to get that garden started! Weed wacking seems to have a similiar effect. Love the blocks- coming right along.

I love this block - but of course, being Australian I'm a bit biased LOL. Our children certainly try our patience from time to time. At least quilting keeps us sane :-)

Sounds like a tough week Dawn. Hope it all works itself out. Children can be a real challange to our sanity at times.
Keep your chin up and I'll say a prayer for you.

Dawn, I hope this week goes better for you! I know exactly what you're going through with both the 18 yo AND making dinners. I hear the same thing...so yesterday my husband cooked! I'm proud of you for sticking to your guns and making your son deal with the consequences of his behavior. Parenting is the hardest job!

Oh my goodness Dawn! You are doing an amazing job working so hard, commuting AND cooking AND looking after your kids (including your husband!). And you still find time to quilt - good on you. It's important and I can't wait to hear about your Paducah trip :)
