Mini Quilt Stand

I've been so busy lately with work and some sewing. But the sewing I'm doing is making more thread organizers for some gifts I need down the line - so nothing exciting to show!

But at small sewing group last Monday night they reminded me I never took a better picture of Julie's practice mini quilt she made me for Christmas. Well then I remembered I never showed Julie the little stand I made for it. So I thought I would show you both today! With the little clothespins I can even change the quilts easily for a change of pace! Nothing fancy, but it works!

I had breakfast with Karen from Of Quilts and other Musings yesterday! She had a layover in Chicago so I met her at the airport and we had a lovely relaxing 3 hour breakfast! It was so good to see her. The only drawback was we didn't have quilts for show and tell and no sewing machines to play!

I was sewing string blocks for mindless sewing Monday night at small group and got everyone in the act. They decided it was so much fun they started helping me press, trim and pick out pieces to fit the next string! Well my friend Joan decided she liked it so much she went out to Sams club and bought Kabinet Wax and started her own yesterday! Aren't they great! I can't wait to see how she sets them!

ADDITION:

I just saw Karens of Sew Primitives picture of Jo Morton's little orange star quilt with the big stitch, had to share my version with her. I didn't big stitch it, but did make mine funky colors - Red and Cheddar....

Hi dawn, just catching up on a very busy you! Love all of your work (as usual) but especially the quilt Star and heart quilt for your friend. You will not believe, though that yesterday I took my daughter for coffee ata new place near the beach and they had that exact range of fridge magnets. I loved that one and planted it for future refernce, bought a few others with my limited funds. A great range, I might post them next. Love those strings as well. LOL Tracey

I love the red and cheddar quilt. I think I am going to have to get that pattern! YOur string quilts are looking good. Can you use freezer paper to sew those?

I've got my strings, and Kabinet Wax all together, ready to go to Miss Mary's. I'm using a constant in the middle, and brights for my strings. Seeing these makes me want to go get started RIGHT NOW!

How fun to meet fellow quilters - and spend your layover time quiltingly - at least talking quiltingly. Your strings look like fun, and I am sure I would have joined in too.

I am going to have to jump on the string bandwagon -- I sure don't want to be left out . . . and I have a box chock full of strips all set for the stringin'

Ohhh, the rack to spread out all the strings sounds just like what I need.

I tried to make 4 piles of mine, long, medium, short, and corner hunks,... but then someone who shall remain nameless thought they looked like a nice nest for cat-napping. I clapped my hands, and he spun around with a guilty look, hopped down, and sent the neat piles flying with a push of his back feet. *sighs*
