Oh Lucy, Lucy, Lucy! Looky, Looky, Looky!!!!

Look what I found! Some Den Haan & Wagenmakers fabrics! There was a Quilt Store (Petra Prins Patchwork & Quilting) from the Netherlands at the Chicago Quilt Festival this year and they had the Den Haan & Wagenmakers fabrics! And she had a little pattern to put together with the panel (below) that Lucy gave me as a gift last year! I've been afraid to use it as I wanted it to be very special and Dutch! And now I have it! I need to go back Saturday and buy a small sampler pack yet for the hour glasses and squares - but I was out of money last night! But isn't this panel AWESOME! (Go to the link - De Winkel- to see how cute the shop is!)

We shopped for about 4 hours and only got through 1/2 the vendors! YIKES! I"m going back on Saturday and am meeting up with Sossy! Won't that be fun! The plan was for me to get all my stuff last night so I could just do what Sossy wanted to do on Saturday. Well best laid plans! I'm sure she won't mind stopping at a few booths for me!

Only got to see one short quick row of quilts as we headed out the door. I"ll be doing that on Saturday too! So here are just a few for you to see......

Great to see those photos, I'm heading to the Chicago Quilt Show tomorrow!! I visited Amsterdam last summer and tried to go to a shop that features traditional Dutch fabrics, but it was closed for vacation while I was there! So frustrating, but I'll check out the booth at the Quilt Show.

Hi Dawn,
I read your blog often but this is the first time I have commented and the reason is that...I am a American living in the Netherlands and I work in the shop from Petra Prins!!! What a small world! I hope you enjoy the show and say hi to Petra for me if you get this in time! You have a great blog! Till next time! Kris

WOW!! That is sooo cool!! I almost went again, this year, but decided I was too tired. always worth the effort, though. It keeps getting bigger, every year! Enjoy your second day out!! Hope you run out of day before you run out of money!

My grandfather's family was from Zutphen so I was happy to see the booth there.
I also was able to take in only about half of the vendors, even less of the show. I will try to get back today.

Oh Dawn, I love that Dutch Medallion quilt! The colors are wonderful, the design, and the panel! Oh wow! You must feel like you won the lottery! Also that red and green applique is outstanding. The star in the center really gives it focus or balance or something!

Dawn, what an amazing show, you must be having a blast! This last quilt you posted is stunning. All the birds and appliqué. And that hand quilting is unreal. I am so glad you snapped some pic for me :) Your Dutch quilt is going to be gorgeous. You'll be so happy you waited til the right pattern/fabric came along. Thanks for giving us a little part of the show. Love Stacy

Dawn, you will just love working with that Dutch fabric. I bought myself a bunch of it - three bundles of fat quarters - at the Reproduction Fabrics booth at the Pacific Northwest Quiltfest in Seattle in August 2006. I've used quite a bit of it in the medallion that I'm working on once more. I bought that same panel at the same time - eventually it will be the center of another pre-1830's medallion quilt. The fabrics were very expensive - as you well know - but I just couldn't resist.

Hee, hee. I bought that Tree of Life panel and associated chinzes from Den Haan & Wagenmakers at the Houston IQF. Great minds think alike. You've inspired me to work on this project. thx
