Finally I quilted it

I finally got my scratch quilt quilted. I can't wait to use it this summer - it is perfect for summer. I just love the little letters on the background fabric. Oh darn, I forgot to take a pic of the fun back on this quilt. Well I"ll have to do it later.

And here is a second peek at "THE" Wedding Quilt. And no - this still isn't the design! It is a secret - and Holly checks in, so I can't show you what it will look like. Oh by the way, she is paniced that the red below looks pink. Adam gave me strict instructions - NO PINK! I've assured her - it is just how it looks in the picture. It is a red and white design fabric, but I needed it to end up looking lighter than a solid red I"m puttin in it elsewhere.

The days are just flying by!

Yup, they are flying by - in more ways than one. I finished another small quilt this weekend and just got a chance to share it with you. So, not only did time fly by and I didn't share this until tonight, but it is my mom's spring wall hanging for her door - I know, it has been spring for awhile now - a little late. But it turned out so cute! All from stash!

Hail, Hail - the quilt is started!

Yup, had hail today! But by the time I got my camera and a new battery the rain was melting it already. But for a bit it was crazy outside! I did get this shot in the grass before it had all melted and the one under the evergreens.

And while the weather was crazy outside I started "THE Wedding Quilt"! My oldest is getting married in October and I figured I had best get started on the quilt! She helped me pick out the fabrics, but has no clue what the design is. And showing you this first set of blocks will not in any way give it away!

Only 6 more months now! OMG! I had better get dress shopping! I keep telling her I'm wearing shorts and a tshirt! At this rate I may really have to!

And now a short Break

Amy of Park City Girl has organized an online Quilt Festival! Her idea is for us to share a favorite quilt and give the story behind it and then link to Mr. Linky on her blog. There are already a large list of bloggers linked in hopes of winning a prize from the generous sponsors! What a perfect way to spend a cold rainy dreary day!

And here is my favorite quilt. It is the quilt I used as a girl on my bed from Aunt Mary. I've blogged about this quilt before. But even as a young girl I had to have this quilt on my bed, even though it was old and worn, and even if it was summer I wanted this quilt. I think my love for this quilt is what made me want to learn how to quilt. Aunt Mary was the only person in our family who knew how to quilt, but by the time I got old enough to learn she had died (she was really my great aunt so much older).

Look at the awesome fabrics. This quilt is most certainly my favorite for all the memories and love it holds for me.

Preview Night

Went to the Chicago Quilt Festival Preview Night tonight. Thurs night for me is shopping night. Of course I found some awesome things! Here is just a sample.

Tomorrow I'll go and look at the quilts. From the peeks I saw tonight they have some great traditional ones this year. Normally they are all arty, which I can appreciate the skill and designs, but at heart give me a wonderful traditional quilt.

Top picture is a punch needle pattern and box. I"ve eyed this pattern every year from Country Threads, but what makes it is the cool box. Of course every year they were out of the boxes by the time I got to their booth. This year - I got one!

Also bought this adorable Little Girl pattern and the awesome brown fabric for the background. Now note that the FQ of the brown fabric is enough for all 12 blocks - that gives you an idea on how tiny those blocks are! But they sure are cute! I also found in another booth another pattern by Cozy Quarters of this little Quilt Shop scene. All the mini quilts are previous patterns from Cozy Quarters! See the little doll one! I have that pattern too from last year - but of course I"ve only looked at it! Check out the little doll quilt pattern and others by Cozy Quarters. Oh and check out "Loving My Quilts" pattern. I got that one 2 years ago.

And last but not least are the most awesome scissors you could ever own. This is my 2nd pair in the small size. But I also have bigger ones. If you do applique you need the 5.5" or 6.5" ones. They have small micro serated edges so the fabric doesn't slip - you will LOVE them. And these small ones never dull and are SO SHARP. Only reason I got another pair is that I wanted to have one pair by my machine and one upstairs by my hand sewing stuff. Guess I should tell you the name! They are Kai Scissors - check them out!
Thats all for tonight. More this weekend.

Rosie the Quilter

I finished my Rosie the Quilter quilt tonight! I have to wash it to make it all nice and crinkly yet, but everything is sewn! Once a month a group of us get together to sew. Nann found these Rosie panels and gave us the challenge of making something with them. This is mine.

And here is the back.

And look at the fun quilting. The center has scissors, needles, pincushions, thimbles, rotary cutters and spools of thread.

And the border is little rotary cutters!

All work and no play...

All work and no play is making this blog very dull! But I did get some blocks done for a quilt I"ve wanted to make for a long time. I finally started some! This won't go very fast, but it is a start.
