Come on Baby, Lets do the Twist

I spent the day "twisting"! Start with some simple squares like above.

Then use the magic twister ruler to cut out new squares.

Sew those squares together.

And look at the fun pinwheel twist quilt you get!

I have twist rulers in 3 sizes, one for 10" blocks, one for 5" blocks and one for 3.5" blocks. Today I used the 5" block ruler. Check out the Twister and Lil' Twister here.

For the 3.5" block size, buy the Primitive Gatherings Itty Bitty Primitive Pinwheel pattern.

Where did you get the smallest Lil Twister? I bought the 10 inch and the 5 inch as a set from The Country Schoolhouse. I don't see info about the third one. I really want to do a mini! Thanks, Linda

Thanks for the pictures, I bought the book months ago and just got the 5" ruler at Paducah, so it's on my summer to do list. Looks like lots of fun.

These are so great!! I love them. I have two sizes of ruler, and really need to get them out to make a quilt. Thank you for the inspiration.

That is really neat, I like how you can make them without cutting them that shape.

I just bought the 5" Twister today but I have a question. How do I make sure that I am making it big enough for a crib or lap or whatever? Do you happen to know the number of 5" squares I need to sew together to make the different sizes of quilts? Any help would be appreciated since I was too cheap to buy the book. :o)

I just love this quilt. I had a ruler like that, sent it to my niece and it got lost in the mail...now that stinks!

I couldn't understand why the squares had a border around them and then you were going to cut up the inner blocks. Now I understand what the border of fabric around the squares does. Very interesting technique.
