An update with my life

Well not much to tell that is exciting, but I"m SOOOO BUSY with work I"ve had no play time. All work and no play is making this girl very, very cranky. I threw a hissy fit in front of the kids friends last night. I"ve just had it with everything! Will this ever stop? I just don't know.

But on the quilting news front - even though I"ve not had time to "play" I did take a few minutes and enter the county fair with things I had done. It was another very good year for me. I think I"d be embarrassed to tell you how many ribbons I won, but I will say a lot!

Very top is my Smore Sunbonnet Sue doll I made a few years ago. I never remembered to enter it in the fair - I always think quilts. So last year I made a note on my list for this year. And look it! I got a first place for the Doll Category and Grand Champion for the whole Domestic Arts - General Category! My first every Champion. I was excited even if it wasn't a quilt.

And I got quite a few 1st places and down. Thought I would share some of them here.

Fantastic! I never remember to put anything in the fair . . . until it's too late *s*
At least the weekend is here - maybe a little fun time then?

Wow! Congratulations! Believe me, I would never win at the fair, lol... maybe for most unfinished kits! I could definitely win that award :o)

Seriously, your work is absolutely beautiful and you definitely deserve to win :o)

Wow! Good job on all the ribbons. I think there's also a "bad Mom" contest going on right now. I've been chatting with friends and we're all a little cranky and our kids are driving us nuts.(Could they ever put their dishes in the dishwasher???) I think it's the mid summer slump! I finally got a few hours in my sewing room yesterday and I feel like a different person!

Well done Dawn - most deserved :o) The kids and their friends will forgive you for the hissy fit - everyone gets stressed at some point and something has to pop! They'll love you all the more for it :o) I can totally empathise on the work front - hopefully with the weekend you can at least glean a little chill time

Sorry to hear you have been so busy with work. It seems like you never have a slow season and I know how depressing it can be for you not to get some quilting time! We all need quilting time. I wish you lived closer and I'd drive right over to cheer you up! Donovan would love seeing you!

Maybe you can come for the Madison day trip?

Well done! I love the little quilt in the frame...Is it your own design? Or was it from a pattern?

Like someone else mentioned I never think about the fair until about a week or so before the deadline! Maybe I'll call now and send for next year's entry form, or 2010's!

Will think good thoughts for you this week...and hope that you can find time for whatever makes your heart sing.

You deserve the ribbons on your beautiful work! don't worry about the cranky mom episode. We are all entitled to that once in a while. In fact, had my episode this morning! the place cleared out pretty fast and now I have a quiet house to myself for awhile! LOL

Impressive!!!
Perhaps a silly question but why is that plastic over your quilts? Is that the way they are displayed at a show? I can understand it is for protection, but it's a pity for the colours.

Wow, congratulations, Dawn! Well deserved ribbons.

Try to find a few minutes to spend with Dawn and no one else. :-)

Congratulations on your winnings!
I drove past the Lake Co. Fairgrounds last week en route to a meeting, but didn't get to that fair this year. DH and I to the Washington County Fair in West Bend on Saturday. There were a few quilts, but nothing spectacular. (However, there was an entire barn of llamas among the animals!)

Congratulations on all the ribbons. I was just saying tonight that we should try to get to the MN State Fair this year - it's been a long, long, long time since I attended any kind of fair.
