Yes, I do procrastinate at times. This project is one of them. 2 years ago my daughters best friend asked me if I could make a Tshirt quilt for her with some of her old favorite Tshirts. I said of course but we were busy getting ready for Holly's wedding and I had friends from Australia visiting. So it wouldn't be until after Christmas before I would start work on it. Well a year flew by. One thing after another kept me from starting it. Finally earlier this summer I got all the Tshirts stabilized and cut out. Hmmmm - this I just never got around to starting the piecing. So finally this weekend I made a dent! And now it is going smoothly. I just need to find time! So let's hear it for me actually starting this top!!!! Wooo Hoo!!!
I have been there! As much as I LOVE quilting, there are some projects that I almost dread getting started. Dread really isn't the word, but you know what I mean. I did make my daughter a tee-shirt quilt for her high school graduation last May and it was a huge hit. I have a friend who wants one for her son, and all his tee shirts are in my closet. Very soon, very soon.
ReplyDeleteI am the QUEEN of procrastination! Lol. Glad you got a good start :o)
ReplyDeleteThree Cheers for a superb start!!! It's going to be so cool. Lets hear it for volleyball and soccer!!! Yippie Yahooie this whole project is fun.
ReplyDeleteHaving just got one to the binding stages, I will say that t-shirt quilts are no walk in the park. The stabilizing, trimming, fitting all of the different size logos into a pattern--I've made easier pieced quilts!
ReplyDeleteKeep at it! Looking good so far!
It is going to look fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for revisiting an oldie but goodie.
ReplyDeleteOnce you get on that roll of just doing it you will wonder just why all the procrastination right?
ReplyDeleteYou have made a great start - she's going to love you forever!
ReplyDeleteI understand your procrastination. Is this your first t-shirt quilt? I made my first on commission a couple years ago. It took the woman 2 years to talk me into doing it! It wasn't so bad. I just made sure I alternated between the tshirt quilt and something I really wanted to work on. Now my sister in law has asked me to do one for her daughter. Here we go again!
ReplyDeleteI sent bags of T-shirts home with daughters 2 years ago, and they were supposed to pick their favorites for a couple T-shirt quilts. Looks like they're the procrastinators on this project. Those first steps are the hardest, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteYou are very generous with your time!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be loved.
I always thought about making these for my kids but never quite got to it - you're doing GREAT!
