Jeanne inspired me to finally change my quilts in my living room and entryway! I finally hauled out the summer patriotic stuff! (Although now I want to make a patriotic bulls eye like hers!)
I couldn't decide on which patriotic like quilt I wanted to hang up, so decided to throw them over the bar instead and do both! And the little one hangs right inside my front door, when you walk in you face that little wall.
And who could ask for a more perfect Saturday! It was sunny and clear and in the mid-70's! I had a bagel this morning with my best quilting friend and then we decided to take a drive to our favorite quilt store (about 45 mins away). So we both ran our errands and met up just before lunch and headed up. We of course had a wonderful time at the quilt store, chatted with the ladies who work there (and I'm sure always happy to see us because they know we will fill the register) and ended stopping at a nursery on the way home. Lynn bought tons of flowers to plant - I just admired! I love flowers but hate the planting and weeding. But I did find fudge inside the little shop!
But then the best was yet to come! I got home and walked in my room. One of the kids had gotten the mail and what did I find! 3 quilt magazines and a HUGE box from my machine quilter in Rockford! It was my 30's Sunshine quilt! Oh my GOSH, it is gorgeous! But I"m not sharing yet because I want to scallop the borders and get the binding on first before I show you! But what more could a lady want!
It was a wonderful day! (Oh and my son actually spoke nicely to me today and treated me like I was human! A real wonder from a cranky 18 yr old boy who has a lot of growing up to do yet!)

Very nice patriotic quilts. I look forward to seeing the quilt in the package you received.
well, what a great change of quilts and yes, it does sound like you had the best possible day-looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
Your display is so marvelous. I love the houses and the weeping willow. The quilts are fabulous too of course. And what a wonderful day. Ah, a quilting store. And a bagel.I'm envious.
Dawn - you sound like you had THE perfect day there - the fudge was obviously the best bit of course. (TIC)
I love all three of those quilts but the little one on its own is my fabourite - somehow the two shades of brown/beige give it a bit more depth than just RW&B. I keep looking at it and spotting something else about the arrangement of all the pieces that I like - definitely one for my ideas file that :o)
As for the bullseyes that Jeanne so kindly gave the instructions for - well when my aged parents had toddled off to bed (gotta get an early night when you have a journey ahead - bless) and DH had become engrossed in a film I snook into the play room and started to cut strips from whatever I could find regardless of colours - mine will have to be a scrap quilt as I couldn't justify a trip into the loft at 11.45pm for my stash boxes to work to a particular colour scheme. Sounds like a really fun quilt to do - can't wait to see your patriotic version - sad that here in the UK we'd be accused of racism if we started acting that way - bit of a sorry old world we live in on this side of the pond.
Thanks for putting my blog on the side of yours - very sweet of you :o)
Wow, Dawn, what gorgeous quilts. And I love how you displayed the two together on the shelf rack!!! And what a great day you had with your QB! I was inspired by Jeanne's bullseye too and printed off the directions.
Dawn I fell in love at these quilts. Your display is fantastic... And I am curious to teh 30th quilt
Hurray for you, Dawn! You deserved such a bright, sunshiney day, girlfriend!
I love especially that your son shared some kinds words with you.
Your patriotic quilts are gorgeous! I love your little shelf arrangement with the two quilts. Wanna come over and help decorate for me??? ;-)
I cannot wait to see your quilt. I hope you're binding away on it!!!
Hey Dawn, the quilts look wonderful, as always! Especially like the second one posted!
And what a day...a real treat for sure!! Glad you had a happy day, and a kind word from the DS, Hugs, Finn
Oh, what a cuties and what a gorgeous way of displaying them...
you sound like having a great day, good for you...
Hi Dawn,
I can't resist a red white and blue colourway and yours look lovely.
Ohh, scalloped borders - bet that's going to be nice... :)
I like your patriotic quilts too, especially that blue you used.
Jeanne is an inspiration, isn't she? Your display looks great! Can you believe that I have NOT ONE r/w/b quilt or wallhanging? *gasp*!?!?
Very, very nice display! Put me on the decorating assistance list...I need desperate help over here! But guess that means I need to get more done and quit giving so many away! LOL
Can't wait to see your newly finished one with the scalloped borders (you brave girl!!).
Love the quilts -- my favorite is the stars and stripes one. I have been mulling over plans for a stars and stripes quilt, so yours is inspiring me! It will have to wait until we sell this darned house though.
Love the patriotic theme. You'll be stunned to hear that I have that on my list of future themes for our Retreat! Thought we'd do those the summer before the next Presidential Election, and include the classic politically named blocks: Old Tippecanoe (of course), Clay's Choice, Lincoln's Platform, Union Square. Title will be "Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!"
And sons do grow up, and find out their parents actually knew something, and weren't here just to embarrass them! My youngest calls at least twice a week . . . and more, if he is trying some new recipes!
Dawn how on earth do you manage to fit so much into your day?
And what a perfect Sunday it was too. Show us the quilt, show us the quilt!! LOL.
I love the colours in your 'little quilt' and the design is marvelous.
I am a big fudge fan too. How clever of you finding it at a nursery!
Sounds like you had a great day, I can't wait to see your Sunshine quilt.
