The last of camp pictures

Well, you knew it had to come to an end sometime didn't you. And as I've been quilting really slow these days it at least gave me something to share! But I saved the best for last! I wanted to share some awesome antique quilts I saw in the antique store. Well ok, somewere not so awesome! But I'll share them anyway.

Both of the "quilts" above were amazing. They were all beaded. they were not large but so heavy I could hardly lift them. I can't remember now but I think they were made in Thailand (see how fast my memory goes). I wish the pictures were a bit better of these, they were really interesting to look at.

I saw this rag rug underneath a cabinet - I was afraid to touch it and pull it out! I wasn't sure what I might find!
And I found this silk quilt. I'm sorry but it was UGLY! Even my friend who has made a ton of things with old silk ties agreed that it was "not so pretty".

And of course I saw plenty of plain utility quilts from all periods.

But there was this beautiful drunkards path quilt. It was really worn, but still beautiful.

And I LOVED this star quilt. I so wanted this one. But it was really pricey for how worn it was. There were many spots worn bare.

And look at this basket quilt - loved the colors!

And I found some awesome string quilts - I just knew Bonnie and all the heartstring girls would love these!

But the best one I saw was an old quilt top. Oh this one was so me! I wanted it so bad, but my trip had just started and I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on just a top. But I have the pic on my cell phone background now and drool over it every day. Who knows, I may go down again next month and see if it is still there! Look at the fabrics! Truely AWESOME!

Ok - I'll chime in with my two cents. You'll kick yourself forever if you don't go back to get this top! What marvelous fabrics! Thanks for sharing all of these - the first two are especially interesting!

Beautiful, beautiful quilts. Even the ugly silk has its charm -- not sure I'd want it being charming in my HOME, but that's another story :0).

Now really, I have to disagree - you shouldn't buy that brown top -- you should tell me the shop phone# so I can buy it!! That is an incredible bit of work, so beautiful! Run, don't walk, back there and get it!

Go on Dawn - treat yourself ! I agree it is truly wonderful. I'm sure you have a place for it in your home !

Okay, when you are there buying the brown one, let me know the price of the silk one because I love it! I have always been a fan of fabrics and things that are so ugly they end up being beautiful! Where is this antique store? Is it near me? I have one down the road from my house that I want to take you to when you come stay.

Have you called them yet?!? ;-)

Just another thought...even if you don't buy it...I know that you'll be able to replicate it very, very well by piecing up your own!!!

Hugs to you!

OMG - I would never have left it there! Darcie's idea is good .... do you have enough photos to replicate the whole design?

Wow...that was a full mug of coffee post! Love all the quilts (ok, maybe not the silk one!) The string quilt with the orange and peach circles applique is so Kaffe F...the chocolate one is great! Please get it! I love quilt tops because the fabrics are so true to color and if you need to wash/clean thme it is sooo much easier than a finished quilt (though that one looks perfect...) Do I dare ask how much they are asking for it?

thanks for the photos...sigh. I miss U.S. antique quilt shopping.

I really enjoyed seeing all of the quilts - thank you for sharing them. The elephant one particularly struck me - so intricate. And the blue and white ones - timeless - I was thinking this morning that I have made a lot of blue quilts. The brown one is gorgeous - looks like so many different patterns going on.

Loved all these, the strings with the circle in the centre were a really interesting take, may have to file that one! Tracey

So did you call the shop and buy that quilt? The one I like is that basket quilt with the orange background. Believe it or not I have a bedroom where that quilt would be fabulous.
