What I did today

What did I do today? I treated myself to a New York Beauty class taught by Toby Lischko! Was it wonderful! I got the above 2 sections done so far. You all have probably seen Toby's patterns in magazines. Everytime I open up a magazine she seems to have a quilt in it lately.

She taught us "unfoundation" piecing for the points, and curved piecing for the .... wait.... yup.... the curves! She also has these AWESOME templates for cutting out the pieces, and trimming the unfoundation piece after it is sewn.

I would recomend her class to anyone who would have a chance to take it, and definately her patterns and templates. I got her cutting corners templates today also that you can use for flying geese, square in a square and any block that has triangles on the end of the block like a snowball block.

She has a new book and templates out also for making a St. Louis Starblock with no Y seams. I liked that idea! I suggest you go check out her web page and all the stuff she has!

Wow, I love the idea of doing those blocks and not paper piecing. I'm going to have to look for those tools! Those blocks look wonderful.

I made a St. Louis Star block last night. Fabric selection and fussy-cutting take longer than the actual sewing!

I can see that you are learning well what was taught in the class. The Sundae fabric for the block center is oh so cute of an idea.

The finished block is gorgeous! I like the colors used and the fabric used for the center circle makes such a nice design.
