Top Quilts
More fair news!!!
OK, I kind of didn't tell the whole story last night, I was tired! I actually did really, really well at the fair this year! 5 blue ribbons, 5 second place ribbons and 3 third place ribbons! I was soooo happy!
As for those comments about the plastic! No that isn't plastic in my house! Those pictures (and these) were taken at the fair. Not stop and think about the dust and dirt and grimy hands that travel through that building in a 7 day period. The fair covers them up with plastic to keep dirt, dust and children's food off the quilts. It makes it hard to take good pics - but I was sooooo happy they do that last night as I watched one young boy lean over the quilts and drip grease, ketchup, hot dog chunks and breading onto the table from his corn-dog! Yuck! You'd be happy with the plastic too!

Its that busy time of year!
So besides having all of that to do, plus an extremely busy work load right now (as you can tell by my lack of quilting and blogging), I entered 3 quilts into the Midwest Folk & Fiber Art Festival. Two were juried in! This is the first year for the festival so I had no idea what to expect or what they were looking for in a quilt. The art show part is in the old Dole mansion on Crystal Lake (top picture). Isn't it wonderful. They slowly are trying to repair and renovate it, but it is wonderful anyway. Then outside they have all kinds of fiber vendors. I saw some really "way out" things - and thought of Tonya with some of them! Anyway, the quilts above are my two quilts in the art gallery.
The gallery had all kinds of fiber and folk arts. I took some pictures of just a few of them. The most intricate and wonderful I thought was the swan mask that was bobbin laced. Can you imagine spending 159 hours on just that small thing! But it was beautiful. I just couldn't get a good picture. And I loved the flamingo quilt with the scissors!
Then to top everything off, my oldest turned 21 yesterday! She came home today to spend the weekend with the family. We have several family picnics (cousins, etc - not just "us") this weekend.
Happy Birthday Holly. I can't believe my first baby is 21!
OK, so all my cute pictures of her growing up are on my other computer. Oh well, I'll share them next week.

Yes its been forever - and will be
I did make a few small blocks for another exchange I do. It is a reproduction block swap. I got July's and August's blocks done! Woooo Hoooo! In they mail they go today!
One new picture of my 3 girls last weekend enjoying their "sisters weekend"! This is at the celery bog next to Holly's apartment. They have a lovely walk through the bog.
I'll be working on some buggy barn blocks soon for a class I'm teaching in August. So I"ll have those to share if I ever pick some fabrics!

So not a long post - I"m too busy enjoying myself. BUT - I did go to see Ratatouille! It was so good! I really enjoyed it! The girls are having fun with their "sisters" weekend with Holly as you can see.
Just wanted to say hi!
