Tops and Bottoms

Thought I would share a top and bottom today. Above is a quilt top my Aunt gave me this weekend! She was going to throw it away! I'm so glad she decided to show me before she threw it away! My uncle's grandmother made it. It is all pieced by hand and is in pristine condition. It smells wonderful and the white fabric is WHITE. I"m going to get it hand quilted for sure. Look at the awesome fabrics in it....

And then I thought I would share a bottom. A different kind of bottom - undies. My middle daughter always complains I never send her packages at college. Well I ususally don't because she thinks I"m a dork still and thinks most fun things are silly. So I got her good this time. She was complaining that over fall break she couldn't find any fun underwear. So while shopping with Emily the other weekend I found 3 pairs of really cute undies. But this one was my favorite.

Now look closely...... Here and there scattered on it is the phrase - Call your Mother!

I thought it was perfect!

What an awesome quilt! Thank you so much for giving us close-ups of those incredible fabrics. It's such an interesting variation on a bow-tie pattern as well. Thank you so much for sharing. (If you want to post more close-ups, feel free any time. Those prints are just too precious.)

How lucky that you were able to rescue that quilt top - it looks just lovely and it would have been a crying shame for it to have been thrown away.
I love the underwear - very cute indeed!

How lucky you were to get that top. If you're looking for a great handquilter to work on it, I happen to know one - me! You can take a look at my work here: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2306414430047927368KoRMpq. Sorry for the shameless plug, but a life as a professional quilter is my goal!

Dawn, it is so funny that you are giving people directions to change the NO REPLY. Hope it helps. Now that underwear! Where on earth did you find it? It is perfect! She really asked for it, didn't she?

I figured I'd comment on this one mom!

She is going to roll her eyes big time at the underwear. She'll be begging for pillow cases after that :P

What an amazing quilt, Dawn. From a distance, it looks so soft and pastel. But close up, the fabrics are lively and unusual. Lucky you.

Your orange crush quilt is beautiful! I can't believe anyone would want to throw a quilt away, especially a pretty one in good condition - so glad you caught it!

That quilt top is a real gem! Reminds of the fabrics in some of my great grandmother's quilts (I have lots of photos and have posted about one of them here -- lots more family quilt posts coming up, with more fabrics like this!). I personally can not get enough of these fabrics. Can't believe anyone would even think of throwing that away!!
