Another Finish and Fun Bday Gift!
I got one more quilt finished! Look at the quilting - isn't it to die for! Viki did another exceptional job. Only this one she paid for. She said she got partway done and realized she was a block off and spent 16 hours picking out stitches. Well it was worth it - it is gorgeous!
And look at what came in the mail yesterday for my birthday! My sister sent it to me! How fun is that!

Book Across the Bay
I spent a wonderful weekend in Northern (way Northern) Wisconsin. Drove up on Friday with Emily and a friend of hers. Emily did a campus tour of the college she is going to next fall. We had already visited last year, but one last look never hurts. But the real reason for the trip was she was wanted to particpate in "Book Across the Bay".
It is a 10K across a bay of Lake Superior from Ashland to Washburn WI. It is done at night with ice illuminaries lighting the way.
During the race they even set off fireworks! There were over 2600 cross country skiers this year and almost 600 snowshoers. Emily did the snowshoe'ing.
I sucked it up and volunteered to drive around the bay and pick the girls up at the end! I had such a great time watching all the people cross the finish line. The fastest skier finished in about 23 minutes! The first snowshoer finished in about 42 minutes.
It was perfect weather and we had a great time. This is the hotel on the lake where the race starts. And look at the cool sledding hill they have for the kids!
And this is my favorite Road on the trip!

An oldie but goodie
I've had this top done for ages, but just never got it quilted. I thought since it was on the smaller side maybe I would hand quilt it, or at least just do it myself. But I never could decide what to do with it. So finally I decided! Give it to Viki and let her do her magic on it! So it is now done and I LOVE it!
And check out the AWESOME reproduction ugly fabric on the back. It is so ugly I'm in love with it!

Valentines Day or Xmas?
Finished 2 Xmas Tree skirts this weekend! I know, not very valentinesish. Holly has 2 wedding showers coming up and thought these would make great shower gifts since she loved hers so much from me. So I got these 2 tops done. All ready now for quilting. (Oh and can you see I had some help!)
Also finished this birthday block for a friend. Our group of friends decided to make blocks for everyones birthday. So this was the first birthday. I hope she likes it!

A Year for Finishes
I decided this was going to be the year I concentrated on getting things quilted that have been laying around for a few years, and to finish some things I had started. So here is another finish! I made this top years ago and loved it, but was always afraid to get it quilted (or do it myself). Now that I have an awesome custom quilter it was time! Don't you just LOVE that purple in the quilt!
Above is a doll quilt I made for a small friend.
And here are some premie quilts I made up with scraps!

It was bound to happen...
Come on. You guessed it. You just knew. I've spent 10 years wanting to make a Dear Jane quilt and never have. Sure I started once and made 5 blocks and thought they looked crummy - so put them away and didn't touch it again. I even broke down twice and made mini Dear Janes with only a few blocks. I hemmed and hawed. I just couldn't bring myself to buy 12 yards of background fabric. I found excuse after excuse.
Well I did it. January 31st - my first Dear Jane block is done. Sure it is only a 9 patch, but it is a start! And I am all organized now with binder and software to make it happen. And the background fabric. Well I decided nope, not happening. I'm making it scrappy. I'll make most of my blocks with shirtings. when I get closer to having it done I"ll find a fabric for the thin sashing strips. I'm using my stash. Even have my second block prepped for applique and the third is in my head!
Yup, it was bound to happen sometime. It's not like I ever quilt or make anything else - right?
