Holiday Time!

Some holiday gifts I've finished. No - it isn't a winter coat for Chloe! Silly Girl! But a tree skirt for Holly's wedding shower today! Got it finished in the nick of time.

And did some more playing with border fabrics. This time - Halloween! All these came from the same piece of fabric. Isn't it cool how different they all look!

OK, off to finish cakes for today, and then to get some sleep!

Its that time of year again - the County Fair

Yup, it is that time of year again - the county fair. I had a good year in the domestics divisions. I got 4 blue ribbons!

But the what I really enjoyed was once again seeing the Budweiser Clydesdales! Boy those are gorgeous animals. We saw them draw the wagon and then watched as they were unharnessed and put away for a rest. And the Busweiser dog was even with them!

I can't wait for camp!!!

Camp is coming up! Less than 2 months away now. This years theme is "Patchwork Pantry". We will be doing projects and blocks based on a pantry theme - and working on whatever projects we want too! One of the things we are going to do is aprons. I found this Ladies Aid apron pattern and had to try it out. Isn't it cute! And it was so easy to make!

Well ok, it was easy to sew - but there was a small problem as you can see when making this at 11:30 at night! Can't blame the instructions, they clearly said to check the direction of the print. Can't blame that I didn't read the instructions - I read that, several times. Can't blame myself for not checking the pattern and direction of the fabric, I did that 3 times.

Whats the problem? What I read and checked didn't register in my brain! I kept saying - yup that is right. Somehow my brain just kept looking at the direction of the fabric and thinking the pattern was laid on it the right way - but it wasn't! So my reversable apron isn't so reversable - but it is still cute!

I"m sure someone is going to ask - so here is the info! It is the "Church Ladies' Apron Pattern" by Mary Mulari. Go check it out! She has a ton of differnt apron patterns. And the instructions are good - it is just the user who messed up!

The Wedding Quilt Continues

Miss Jan has been cracking the whip and is making sure I don't forget about the wedding quilt! So here is the center strip of it! 3 of 9 sections done! (Well actually I have been working on lots of the blocks needed for the other 6 so I have been busier than it looks). Thank you Miss Jan....

And go check out Darlene's Spool Quilt! I can't wait to get my blocks together. This is what mine looked liked as of March. Darlene's looks much better!

String Stars Quilt Top is done!

So I struggled with what to do. End the end I kind of used everyone's suggestions and this is what I ended up with. It will be large enough for my bed so I can see it every day. I can't wait to get it quilted! But first I have to make the backing!

I also made these 2 wilderness type blocks for a friendship quilt some of us are making for a friend. Aren't they cute!

I have the center put together of the wine quilt! Nothing hard - just fun panels! I like doing easy quilts like this every now and then.

I also got some more Brownstone blocks done! The rest of the week I"ll probably be too busy with work - but hopefully this weekend I"ll get working on the wedding quilt again!

Oh and did you see my boo boo? I had taken the picture before I noticed it! So yes - that boo boo will be fixed!

Drum Roll Please......

I got the string stars done!!!!! Isn't it great! It is about 62 x 62. I"m wondering if I should leave it as is and just have the quilt this size, or if I should add really wide borders (10") and then it would fit my bed. If I do that I"m thinking either brown or red. (Oh and the pics are really washed out. The colors are much richer in real life and the background shirtings are more tan. Only place I could get a pic was in Jenna's room on her closet door tonight which is in the basement).

What do you think? I"ll add a poll to the top of my blog to add to the fun!

A bit from the past...

Just had to share this quilt I saw at guild last night. It is my friend Lynn's quilt - lucky girl! She was cleaning out a closet at her mom and dad's house and found this plastic tub. And what was inside? This gorgeous quilt! Is smelled a lot from being in the tub, but she soaked it in quilt soap and layed it out to dry and tah dah! A gorgeous old quilt with no smell!!!!

And RUN, don't walk, over to Bee in my Bonnet's giveaway above! You'll spend hours drooling over her INTENSE detailed patterns and ideas.
