Misc....

Finished quilting my spring tree in my Primitive Primer quilt tonight! I have about 1/2 of the quilt quilted now! Next up will be the flowers in the pot.

I also made these 2 Sewing Bags for on the go projects to put in our guild boutique. I got the idea from Qulting in Mequon - "My Life with Thread and Needle".

And if you want to know a bit more about me; check out Micki's blog - I'm the June Star!

Slowly working away on hand quilting

Been slowly working away on the hand quilting of my Primitive Primer. Soon I"ll have a new quilt top to share. But for now this is all I have to share.

More on my old project....

OK, so many wanted to see the whole quilt I took it downstairs to my daughters room and snapped a few pics. Its in the basement so I only get so much light down there! Anyway, here it is. Thought I would snap closeups of the few sections I have quilted.

For those of you that asked what the pattern is: It is Primitive Primer by Jan Patek. An oldie but a goodie. The first running of this book had side projects to make with blocks and sections of the full quilt. The second printing is just the full quilt. So if you go looking for the book just note that.

Someone else wanted to know about my pin basting. Yes, I pin my hand quilted quilts. I don't have the time or the space to really thread baste it. so I pin baste just it, just like if I would machine quilt it. Then I start quilting sections. If a pin is in the way of the hoop when I start I just move the pin. And I"m just extra careful when I put the quilt in the hoop to make sure I"m not folding any backing in it, or pulling the backing funny. Has worked for me.

An old quilting project

It is so cold out I finally hauled out an old hand quilting project I've worked on off and on for a few years. Got most of the tree block done tonight - but need to work up that callous on my bottom finger again!
