Free Hand Fans

OK, I warned you last night - they are awful! I think this may not be my thing! They are no way a pleasing maverick mess - they are just a plain uneven mess!

Remember - I told you so......

Honestly I think you're being too hard on yourself. No they're not even but they don't look bad at all. Very Maverick I think. :-) And remember done is better than perfect.

Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. I agree with Nancy -- they don't look bad at all in the pictures. And, I'm betting with a little practice, you'll be pleased.

awww come on Dawn, give them a chance. Wait for what Tonya says..ok??? This is her DH's first day of weekend, so she's often late on our Friday..I think you are doing better than you think.
And remember Ton said to park a hoop or two, freehand and follow those lines to get you going??? I did that on the second fan...

Yay! Your blog is fixed! :cD And I like the fans. I think it will look super old after you wash the quilt!

Hey Dawn, just occured to me tonight that maybe it's easier for me because I've hand quilted for years and years. Does that make you feel any better?? I hope so..*VBS* It does get easier as you do more and more of them.

I love the quilt! The uneven fans don't notice much, the finished quilt will have a lovely texture all over it.

Personally I think there is something charming about the fans being uneven on such a symetrically patterned top. They add interest and give it more interest. May not be what you planned, but these enhance, rather than distract. Hang in there.

Dawn, Dawn, Dawn, I hope it's the cold medicine that is fogging your brain. These fans look so charming and wonderful.

When you first learn something, it's hard. You may have to struggle some. Give yourself a break and know that it will get easier as you do it.

Also, keep in mind that you are going over multiple seams - that makes it much more difficult. Remember when we started I said to think of this first piece as practise and learning. You're doing that, aren't you? Keep going.

Lovely quilt again dawn!!You use a beautifull fabric for back... And the fan's look very antique to me. Keep going on. I see you make them freehand. Maybe you can draw them before as a help... and if you "feel"the curve you can do them freehand ??

Oh...you're so *Dawn* funny!

I hope you're more comfortable by now with your fans...cuz they really are looking great! Remember...we're always our own worst critics.

And just look at the *fan club* that you have in regards to your freeform work. You know...none of us get paid for making these comments. We KNOW what we're talkin' about! ;-)

Happy New Year!
